Fireweed After Fire

Fire used to go through the forests of the southern Canadian Rockies more frequently than it has in the last 100 years. We can expect to see more fires in this area in the future.
When fire does occur, it's interesting to see what plants come up first. Fireweed is often one of those "pioneers" that colour burned-off slopes in blankets of pink.
