Tangling Elk

You know it's September in the Rockies because the elk bulls are sparing. Quite often, intense confrontations develop between rivals, often lasting intermittently for hours.

The photographic challenge for this image was to get in a position so that the animals were parallel to me. They were moving around unpredictably and fast, and it took about half an hour before I could get the image.
