Takakkaw Falls

Takakkwaw (TAH-KUH-KAW) is the Cree word meaning "it is wonderful". It freefalls 254 metres, and is one of the four highest waterfalls in Canada. You can hear the thunder of the falls from inside your car at the nearby parking lot, or while inside your tent at the campsite half a kilometre away.

If you're close enough, you can feel the spray from the falls as it wafts downstream. That's what enables this rainbow to appear on sunny afternoons when the sun is at your back. This image was taken right when a breeze served to increase that water spray, making for a real intense rainbow for a few seconds.
